What Are AEDs?
The most common cause of sudden cardiac arrest is ventricular fibrillation - the heart's electrical impulses become irregular. An AED is a device that can be used by non-medical personnel to safely and effectively restore the heart to a normal rhythm.
Training is Simple
Training on the AED usage and CPR requires only 4 hours under the American Heart Association's Heartsaver AED course. The recommended renewal is every two years, but most sites choose to practice more frequently. Trainers can come to your site, on your schedule and can even help you keep track of renewal dates.
